Maybe I should consider the Bible...
The Bible offers specific information on human origins. It provides a reasonable and coherent story of man on earth as well as his future. Even skeptics acknowledge that the Bible has had a major effect on human history. The fidelity of modern translations with the ancient originals has been firmly established. In addition, there are exhaustive resources easily available for researching the text and understanding.
There's another major reason: no matter which other resources you may explore, including the Koran, medieval writers or modern philosophers, you will quickly notice that they often support their ideas with Bible passages. In other words, many of the other resources you may investigate cite the Bible as their authority. It would make sense to start at the source.
